Daniel Longfield

Mrs Daniel Longfield, 63, who had been in failing health for sometime and quite ill the past two months, died suddenly at five o'clock Friday morning, following a heart attack in their home at Oak Grove. When Mr Longfield returned from the barn he found Mrs Longfield lying on the floor in the bed room. He picked her up and placed her on the bed where she passed away a few minutes after. Her maiden name was Nettie May Smeltzer, eldest daughter in a family of six children born to Michael and Mary Smeltzer. She was born near here June 19, 1878. She was united in marriage to Daniel Longfield in March 5, 1898 and has lived all her married life in the home where she passed away. One son, James, was born to this union. He resides in Nappanee. Surviving besides the husband and son, are a granddaughter, Verda, one brother, Lloyd Smeltzer of Bryant, Ind, three sisters, Mrs Beulah Myers of Sidney, Mrs Ben Fisher of southwest of town and Mrs Glover Jackson, north of town.
