Born in Mobile, Alabama on January 10, 1928, Maxine was the daughter of Victor C. and Frances E. (Smith) Langley. On December 22, 1945 in Lucedale, Mississippi, Maxine married William M. “Buck” Carter. The couple would move from Mississippi to Bremen in 1950. The family would move to Plymouth in 1978.
