Rosa Maxine Carter January 10, 1928 - November 2, 2014                  Rosa Maxine Carter, 86, passed away with family by her side at 4:01 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.           Born in Mobile, Alabama on January 10, 1928, Maxine was the daughter of Victor C. and Frances E. (Smith) Langley.           On December 22, 1945 in Lucedale, Mississippi, Maxine married William M. “Buck” Carter. The couple would move from Mississippi to Bremen in 1950. Feb. 7, 1926-Oct. 24, 2014. BARTLETT, Ill. — Marie Beachy, 88, formerly of Middlebury, Ind., died at 10:21 a.m. CST Friday at Victory Center in Bartlett.. She was born on Feb. 7, 1926 in Arthur, to Mose D. and Susie W. (Yoder) Troyer.. On Nov. 4, 1943, she married Joas “Yup” Beachy in Middlebury. He died Sept. 22, 1981.. Surviving are two daughters, Naomi (Joe) Lenoci of Streamwood, Ill. and Lois (Dan) Stimax of Rock Hill, S.C.; four sons, Leonard (Michelle) Beachy of West Chester, Pa., Glenn (Martha) Beachy of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Nelson Beachy of Paola, Kan., and Willard (Donna) Beachy of Middlebury; daughter-in-law, Joan Beachy of Goshen, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Arlene Brown of Elkhart, Ind.. William D. "Bill" Cooper

William D. "Bill" Cooper, 62 of Bristol, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Elkhart General Hospital from nearly a 2 year battle with kidney cancer. He was born on Sept. 8, 1951 in Elkhart to Robert and Betty (Maggert) Cooper. He married Peg Nelson on July 6, 1987. She survives along with 2 daughters, Tina Cooper of Goshen and Teresa (Gary) Grissom of Decatur, MI, and 4 granddaughters, Brittany, Jessica, Melissa and Gabrielle. He is also survived by a sister, Pat (John) Gonser of Bristol and 2 brothers, Bob (Diane) Cooper of Bristol and Steve (Dorothy) Cooper of Round Lake, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Tom (Shelby) Cooper in 1994. Bill graduated from Elkhart High School in 1969 and had a heart transplant at Cleveland Clinic on Dec. 29, 1985. He worked at Elkhart Brass for many years starting in 1974 as a supervisor and manufacturing engineer. Forest Edward Varvel November 18, 1931 - January 25, 2014 Forest Edward Varvel 82, of Plainfield passed away January 25, 2014. He was born November 18, 1931 to the late Virgil and Zelah Tarr Varvel. Forest was married on January 19, 1952 to Priscilla Hutsell Varvel. He was employed at Central Supply for over 40 years retiring in 1995. Forest was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; sons, Gary Carol Varvel, and Terry Tonya Varvel; granddaughters, Ashley Daron Day, and Alivia Varvel; grandsons, Brett Christina Varvel, Drew Varvel, and Alec Varvel; great-granddaughters, Kherington Varvel and Lily Day; great-grandson, Liam Day; and sister, Dorothy Bill Beams. Margaret E. Platz

Margaret E. Platz, 70, of South Bend, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, in Memorial Hospital. Margaret was born July 7, 1943 in Elkhart, a daughter of the late Floyd and Martha Louise (Webster) Platz. She has lived in Elkhart, Mishawaka and South Bend. At one time she worked for Logan Center/Industries. Margaret is survived by three brothers, Robert Platz of Auburn, Paul Platz of Edwardsburg and Raymond Platz of Lakeville; and a sister, Betty Walker of South Bend. Margaret was preceded in death by brothers, William Platz, George Platz and Larry Platz; sisters, Roberta Nation, Evelyn Glanders, Lola Blocher and Lenora Tribbey; and infant sisters, Gertrude and Marguerite. Services will be held Monday, November 4, at 1 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

Bryan Lee Taylor

Bryan Lee Taylor, 40, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Monday morning, April 22, 2013, at a friend’s home. He was born July 4, 1972 in Goshen to Charles W. “Bill” and Rolene (Weldy) Taylor. They survive along with a daughter, Jenna Marie Taylor, and his partner and best friend, Jennifer Compton Miller, all of Goshen; two sisters, Carolyn (Dennis) Kern and Robin (Kevin) Yoder, both of Goshen; and a brother, William “Bill” (Carol) Taylor, Roswell, Georgia. A 1990 graduate of Northridge High School, Bryan was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing and camping around a big bonfire with his friends. He attended NASCAR races with his father and brother. He was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He worked as a final finisher at Supreme Corporation since 1999 and part time as a bartender at Double D’s. PATRICIA ANNE "PATTY" VINSON, 85, of Plainfield, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. She was born Sept. 7, 1927 the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Wharton in Oberlin, Ohio. She earned her B.A. at Oberlin University in 1949 and her M.A. at St. Francis University in 1970. She married Leonard B. "Vinny" Vinson on Dec. 15, 1951. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1989. She worked for the Fort Wayne Community Schools as an Elementary Education Teacher and later as a Consultant for 29 years retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church where she served as Trustee and was involved in the Stephen Ministries. She was also a member of the P.E.O. as a "Golden Girl" 60 year member, Chapter C.M. Plainfield. She was a volunteer at St. Marks Episcopal Church Lion's Den Hot Lunch Program and a volunteer at the Van Buren Elementary School reading program.
