Death Call Aged Farmer Tuesday A.M. F.M. Loper Passes Away After Extended Illness. After an illness extending over a period of several months, F.M. Loper, aged 72 years, died at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the South Mississippi Hospital of senility and a complication of dieseases. His condition has been serious for several days and a member of his children were at the institution at the time of his demise. The deceased was a resident of the Strengthford community where he had made his home for many years. He was one of the best known and oldest residents there. He was a memer of the Baptist church and had been an officer of the board for years, giving up this responsibility owning to advanced age. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Myrick Baptist church. Rev. J.W. Fagan of Laurel officiating. Rev. David Harrison of Strengthford will asssit. The Loper family is one of the oldest and largest in Wayne County of which the deceased was a resident of many years. He is survived by a widow and ten children as follows: Children---Tim,Oscar,Luke,B.C.,Mance and Elgie Loper; Mrs.S L Langley, Mrs. Jas. Jordan, Mrs. Lee Dunagin,and Mrs. Cynthia Cooley. The latter is connected this the South Mississippi Hospital where Mr. Loper suffered his last illness. In the passing of Mr. Loper, residents of the neighborhood in which he lived for many years will miss a man who has done much for his community, church and neibhbor. His family, reared there, is widely known. Mr. Loper gave his attention to farming for years and was considered among the most successful. He was progressive and assisted with development and more modern means of farming until his age prevented his following this work to which he had been attached throughout his life. A devoted church member, he worked equally as dilligently for the church. I received this obituary from Gwen Langley Pittman, on July-26-2008. Thank you Gwen. (Elgie Loper the youngest child, left the are when was about 40 years old. He was born about 1905. Family did everything they could to search for him. I believe he may have returned once but I believe he left again. It is unknown where he went and what happened to him.)This was told to me by a niece of Eligie's.
