Stephen Wheeler Jett

JETT, STEPHEN WHEELER, 40, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2011 at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born October 4, 1970 in Richmond, KY and graduated from Indiana University. Stephen loved to cycle, hike, sail and play disc golf as he was an avid lover of nature. Music was also a big part of his life, as he enjoyed listening to music all hours of the day. He played several different instruments as well as sang in his college choir and the Lexington Singers. His beautiful voice was admired by many. He will also be remembered for his great sense of humor and his smile that could light up any room.

Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Verda Margene "Genie" Hatch Jett; his maternal grandmother, Verda Hatch; maternal grandfather, Col. Alden O. Hatch; and his paternal grandfather Paul Jett.

He will be cherished and remembered lovingly by his wife, Carin Cobb Jett; sister, Lucy Jett Waterbury (Ethan); brother, Neal Jettpace (Lynn); father, Paul David Jett; grandmother, Amy Jett; Carin's family, Mark and Renee Peterson, Wallace Cobb (Sandy), Brian and Elizabeth Cobb; his best friend, David Mitchell; five nephews; one niece; and many other family members and friends.

A visitation celebrating the life of Stephen will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, Louisville, KY. A private ceremony will be held for the family on Monday at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, KY. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date held in Richmond, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made as a special thanks to Gilda's Club of Louisville and the Michael Quinlan Brain Tumor Foundation
